A simple guide to how Career Helper supports your child — from choosing subjects to funding their studies. Career Helper is South Africa's free career guidance platform for Grade 8–12 learners, and every tool below is built to help your child plan their future with confidence.

What Career Helper Does for Your Child

• Career Quiz: A short RIASEC interest quiz reveals your child's personality type, pointing towards careers they're likely to enjoy and succeed in.
• APS Calculator: Turns your child's subject marks into the Admission Point Score (APS) that South African universities use to decide who qualifies for which course.
• Career Roadmap: A personalised, step-by-step plan combining their quiz and APS results — your child can share it with you straight from the roadmap page.
• Bursary Finder: Matches your child to bursaries and funding like NSFAS and ISFAP, plus TVET college alternatives.

Get Their Roadmap by Email

Once your child has a Career Roadmap, they can send you a parent-friendly summary straight from the roadmap page — look for the "Share with my parent/guardian" button.

Stay Involved

Track your child's progress once they've linked their account to you in the Parent Portal. If your child hasn't signed up yet, encourage them — Career Helper is free for South African learners to use.
