RESEARCH QUESTION What official national achievement scale underlies common APS explanations, and what is the scope of Career Helper's public-university planning catalogue? METHOD 1. We transcribed the seven National Senior Certificate achievement bands published in official Department of Basic Education material. 2. We checked the scope of Career Helper's institution catalogue against the Department of Higher Education and Training's public-university sector list. 3. We exported only public classifications and aggregate catalogue counts. We did not query, count, group, or export learner profiles, marks, assessment answers, schools, locations, or usage events. 4. We label Career Helper-derived values separately from official-source values. INCLUSION AND EXCLUSION Included: the national seven-level NSC achievement scale and the aggregate count of public universities represented in Career Helper's planning catalogue. Excluded: programme cut-offs, selection formulas, application dates, acceptance rates, learner outcomes, and any institution-level rule not checked against that institution's current official prospectus. LIMITATIONS APS is not one nationally uniform admissions formula. Institutions and programmes can select subjects, exclude or weight Life Orientation, apply faculty points, require specific subject levels, use tests, or apply competitive selection. Meeting a published minimum does not guarantee admission. Official prospectuses and admissions offices remain authoritative. PRIVACY The CSV contains zero learner-level records. It contains no names, contact details, schools, exact marks, profiles, assessment answers, device data, or small-group statistics.
